1.4 Diffusion of Innovations & Change
Candidates research, recommend, and implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and for managing the change process in schools.
Artifact: Action Plan
Reflection:
Action plan is to put in place as a schedule for implementation of increasing the use of technology for teachers and students with myself being the technology coach. This document lists the professional development and observations that will be done during the school year. The people responsible for the tasks being completed are the media specialist, computer lab
paraprofessional, and myself.
This artifact is putting me into the role of technology coach for teachers. I am to assist in technology questions or concerns, creating ideas for engaged lessons, and schedule professional development when needed. This helps to ensure the technology vision and plan is being met for the school.
I learned that setting up schedules and posting bulletin boards helps teachers to build confidence to implement technology based lessons into the classroom or to assist in student engagement. I'd change the article to include refresher courses on Interwrite at the beginning of the school year. Like students, some teachers tend to forget how to use the boards and need the extra time to get acquainted with it.
This artifact did help with creating a bulletin board to show engaging lessons, websites, and tools. The board could be seen by any teacher or student next to the computer lab. One tool that helped with behavior was Class Dojo. One of the second grade teachers implemented it and saw a positive change in the students behavior. This can be measured by the data collected of displaying a behavioral chart for each individual student. The chart can display the percentage of gained and loses of points.
