5.1 Needs Assessment
Candidates conduct needs assessments to determine school-wide, faculty, grade level, and subject area strengths and weaknesses to inform the content and deleivery of technology-based professional learning programs.
Artifacts: Narrative of Technology Survey
Reflection:
The Narrative of Technology Survey is the summary of results of the Technology Survey that was conducted among teachers at school to see which area is their weakness and strength. The data displayed, shows the percentage of teachers who have knowledge of technology and those who need assistance through professional development. The other important factor of the survey was the importance of having a clear understanding of using technology on a daily basis.
The Narrative of TechnologySurvey demonstrates the overall knowledge of teachers who use a variety of Microsoft tools, websites and digital tools. In order to have a strong technology program, displaying the results allows administration to view which professional development is needed to ensure each teacher not only has an understanding, but is capable to use these tools.
I learned that every teacher has some knowledge of technology but need assistance with involving it into their lessons for student engagement. The changes that would have been made to the survey would be to add a few more questions about the
district technology plan. This will be a good way for all teachers to become aware of the district’s goals.
With the survey being done and the results shown, it helped to create a professional development on PowerPoints. Some of the results of the survey were shown to support the professional development as well as keeping in mind of what administration would like to envision. This assisted teachers to utilize their knowledge about PowerPoints with adding more technology into it
for a more engaging appeal for students. The students are becoming use to the simple use of PowerPoints that it is becoming less effective to keep students engaged. By adding sounds, movement, video, and activities into the PowerPoints the student becomes more engaged. This can be measured by LoTI evaulation rubric for the use of technology during an observation.
