Artifacts: Technology Survey
Reflection:
The technology survey was to help to assess the teachers’ technology level and configure a plan to create a professional development on one of the digital tools needed to improve student engagement. There are a variety of questions on how the teachers are planning to prepare for weekly lessons and incorporating technology for instructional use or student usage. Also, there are questions to see if teachers are aware of the district technology plan and if they are aware of the expectations for using technology.
The teachers in the school have different levels technology knowledge and use a variety digitals tools daily. Since there was a lack of technology professional development for the 2010-2011 school year, teachers were not able to grow or learn more on usage of technology in the classroom. For the teachers who completed the survey during the 2011-2012 school year, many wanted professional development on technology and digital tools.
I learned that teachers have needs to improve in a growing area like technology, so their instruction can become more engaging to students who lack the motivation to learn. I would change some questions to acknowledge the best time for professional development and the types of learning would best fit the learning styles of the teachers.
This artifact helped to assess the knowledge of technology and the use for daily instruction. Also, it helped to assess the knowledge of the district technology plan and expectations of using technology daily. With the results and the right professional developments, the teachers can improve the delivery of lessons and instruction to engage their students. With survey, the results can be measured in the eagerness from teachers to keep learning more about technology and implement their knowledge in the classroom.
