2.6 Instructional Design
Candidates model and facilitate the effective use of research-based best practices in instructional design when designing and developing digital tools, resources, and technology-enhanced learning experiences.
Artifacts: Engage Learning Project
Reflection:
The instructional design aspect for the Learning Engagement Proposal was a way to incorporate technology into the Haynie Reading Express. This was for students to publish their work so their classmates and parents can read about the exciting books they have read. This project was also designed as the technological advanced book report the students can keep adding or eventually debate on which book is the best to read.
I was able to find a program that needed a boost to get the students back involved into it. This program
started in 2004. When the media specialist who started the program transferred to another school, the present media specialist, my mentor, had to take over the program and keep it going. By adding a Wiki website for the students to record their summary, it seemed to become more promising for the students to keep reading and keep critiquing books on their own.
I learned that having support from teachers, parents, and administration is important to any program to help maintain or make it better. The things I would do differently would have been spreading the word and advertising it more. The more people that are involved it, the better it becomes.
This project did impact the present media specialist to have support of the program as she is trying to maintain and make it grow. This would have helped more students to be encouraged to read and check out more books from the media center. This project would have measured the increase scores on Reading tests.
