3.2 Managing Digital Tools and Resources
Candidates effectively manage digital tools and resources within the context of student learning experiences.
Artifacts: Vocabulary VoiceThread
Reflection:
The Vocabulary VoiceThread is the final product of a completed lesson. The students’ drawings were uploaded and they recorded their definition orally. There were some students who did not want to record their voices so they typed the definition in the comment box. This would allow the students to review the vocabulary words before taking the quiz and allow the students and teachers for next school year to view.
I manage the digital tool to ensure its continuously working for teachers and students to view. I have shown it to my English Learners so they get an example of what they will create by using VoiceThread. This tool can be saved and kept for many years to show other students.
I learned that students are wanting projects like this to help build their confidence. They are proud when their work is being shown to their fellow students and teachers. I would make changes to it by keep adding more student definitions to show some words have multiple meanings. I also would like to display it on my classroom website for the possibility of students creating their own VoiceThread.
By managing this tool, I don’t have to re-invent the wheel every year with the same vocabulary words. I can also
change the way it is used by incorporating a story by using their vocabulary words. The impact would be acquiring new vocabulary and using the written or oral sentences to help to determine the definition. This could be measured by their improving test scores from their weekly vocabulary tests.
