Artifacts: iPod Apps
Reflection:
The iPod Apps was a professional development which was conducted by my mentor and myself. We looked at the educational apps to get an idea on to present it and teach it to the teachers. During one of the breaks, we searched for more educational apps that were free. We wrote a list of apps to be sent into the county for approval. Once the county approves the apps, my mentor could sync the apps to the iPods. A second professional development would be conducted to assist the teachers on how to utilize the new apps.
This artifact demonstrates collaboration with my mentor to find more instructional apps for the iPods so teachers and students can expand the use of them. During the downtime between our grade level professional development of iPods, we searched on the Apple Apps store to find more apps that would help the students with Math, Reading and Science. Once the list was composed, she would submit the list to the county for approval.
I learned that collaborating is a good way to work together to bring in more technology to be placed on the tools that we have in the school. The only change that could have happen was inviting the principal to look at some of the apps that we found. Just getting her involve in some of these decisions could help to support technology and possibly having another professional development on how teachers can use these apps efficiently.
This artifact establishing another technology tool for teachers to learn how to use the different apps and be able to teach them to their students. The impact of having iPods is adding another technology tool for students to use for learning purposes. This type of student engagement can be measured by the LoTI levels of using iPods with a lesson.
