Artifacts: Assisting Co-workers
Reflection:
Assisting Co-workers was part of field experiences where I had to assist teachers with technology issues they were having with printers, computers, and Interwrite boards. A few teachers did need my assistance on simple tasks with connecting to the Interwrite programs or printer issues. This field experience was done during one semester but I did assist throughout the entire school year.
The artifact is in detail on the technology items/issue the teachers need assistance to fix or initiate on the Interwrite board.
The teachers needed to have the issues resolve in order to teach or have find an alternative example, activity, or a way to introduce the lesson with the dry-erase board. The majority of the problems have to do with the wireless connection between the computer and the software programs.
I learned that a lot of the issues are usually a connection issue and sometimes restarting the computer does help. There were times the wireless connection to the Interwrite board was no longer working. The things I would change is having a system set up so teachers would be able to contact me first thing in the morning or during my planning time if they were having any technical problems. This would be a way where it won’t interfere with my small groups.
This artifact shows that technology is not perfect and issues will happen. This impacted the importance of technology when teachers are not able to utilize it with their lessons for student engagement. This can be measured by the LoTI level for technology use in the evaluation lesson plan rubric.
