Artifacts: Web Colors and Teacher Websites
Reflection:
Field experiences were required to apply our skills and knowledge to help improve the way teachers and students utilize technology. The field experiences were recorded on my blog with . Each field experience differs from assisting teachers to letting students use technology for engaging projects. I have two examples that demonstrate using technology for communication. Web Colors was the presentation for my classmates of ITEC 7430. I displayed examples of a variety of websites with different color schemes that are pleasing to the eyes. The other field experience was teaching the 2nd grade teachers on creating their website.
The field experience on Web Colors allowed me to apply my knowledge of using safe web colors on websites. I was able to research to find websites that assist with finding an html code for any web based color. This did allowed me to practice my skills of using html codes to create examples of websites with different color schemes. I presented it in PowerPoint form. For the Teacher Website field experience, I learned how to create a teacher website using the School Desk program through my district. My mentor did assist me with setting up my website. The 2nd grade teachers were interested in setting up their own website. I walked them through the steps of setting up their teacher website and used the Interwrite board for visual support.
This demonstrates the knowledge that I learned from each course to help implement or share the technology tools with teachers. Of course each task had to be based on the technology standards to ensure the true technology experience was being conducted. Each implementation of a program was also recorded as a field experience.
I learned in order to grow as a technology leader or technology facilitator, hours of learning and planning for professional development is important. Some of the experiences I would change would be creating more professional development. There is so much that I have learned from each and every technology course, and I would like to share it with my co-workers.
The impact from both field experiences would help teachers create a color pleasing, communicating teacher website. For future impact, the lesson on web colors and professional development will help all teachers to have a visual pleasing website. Having a teacher website is recommened by the district as part of the technology plan for the district. The usefulness for communication of class assignments and school events can be measured by surveying the parents. There comments are important to improve ways teachers and parents can communicate.
